Williams Yacht Services is an independent company specialising in offering consultancy services to owners, captains and other organisations.

WYS is proud to represent ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations) at IMO (International Maritime Organisation), in London. This relationship was established in 2010 and has resulted in a number of important achievements for the yachting industry; including:

Successful negotiation of a 5-year delay to the Tier III NO_xregulations for yachts over 24m in length and under 500 GT, from 2016 to 2021.
Contributing to the “Guidelines for safety measures for pleasure yachts over 300 GT and above not engaged in trade operating in polar waters”
Contributing to drafting amendments to SOLAS chapter XIV and the Polar Code parts I-A and I-B affecting pleasure yachts of 300 gross tonnage and upwards not engaged in trade.

All international maritime legislation originates at IMO and through its involvement with ICOMIA WYS is able to keep abreast of, and influence, the latest trends and developments affecting the yachting sector.

Having no brokerage affiliation or broking interests, WYS takes an impartial and analytical interest in the yacht sales market. As a result of a project researching yacht sales and time on the market, WYS has developed a yacht value calculator which can be found here.

WYS is committed to building a sustainable and lasting business model and to pursue this strategy will acquire or enter into partnership with companies where clear synergies have been identified.

ANDY WILLIAMS – DIRECTOR

Andy Williams established Williams Yacht Services in early 2009 following a decade of working with two of the largest companies in the industry, Camper & Nicholsons (CNI) International and Hill Robinson.

Andy has been involved in the industry from the early stages of yacht regulation and, during his time with CNI, was responsible for THUNDER GULCH becoming the first yacht in the world to be issued with a SMC (Safety Management Certificate) when ISM was introduced. He was also responsible for LADY ANN MAGEE becoming the first UK flagged vessel of any type to be issued with an ISSC (International Ship Security Certificate).

Andy was awarded his MBA by Warwick Business School in 2007. Andy can offer extensive sea time and command experience, having served as a Royal Navy officer before sailing with leading commercial shipping lines including P&O Cruises, Stena Line and Gulf Offshore. He achieved his Master Mariner’s ticket at age 34, before coming ashore to work at Lloyds Register in London in 1999. In his spare time Andy is a keen sailor and in 2023 he realised his dream of completing a circumnavigation of Great Britain in his yacht BEAUJOLAIS JO.
