Commercial Vessel Assurance Scheme (CVAS)
Vessel assurance describes the process confirming that a yacht is compliant with flag, port state and safety management system requirements so that it is fit for the intended mission and provides a safe working environment for the crew and a secure and enjoyable experience for guests.
The principle objective of the WYS CVAS is to ensure that a commercial yacht is able to pass any Port State Control inspection with zero deficiencies. This is achieved via a thorough inspection of the vessel, encompassing:
- Statutory certification
- Class certification
- Log books and records
- Crew certification
- Safety management system and planned maintenance
- MLC
- ISPS compliance (if applicable)
- Bridge and navigation equipment
- Life saving appliances
- Fire fighting appliances
- Lifting gear
- Pollution prevention equipment
- Water and weathertight integrity
- Emergency sources of power
- Ship-shore transfer of personnel
On completion of the inspection we will leave a detailed report with the captain, highlighting any areas of concern requiring corrective action. The scheme provides a friendly, supportive, third-party, impartial assessment which can flag up potential issues before they are able to adversely impact the operation of the vessel.
CVAS can be provided as a one-off stand alone inspection or as part of an ongoing compliance monitoring service where WYS conducts regular vessel inspections and maintains records of the yacht’s certification and surveys including crew documentation and advises the captain when any renewal activities are required.
